Bitcoin Job Market Update: September 2024 Report
Get the latest insights on the Bitcoin job market: Discover the top companies hiring, popular roles, and more in our exclusive Bitcoin job data report!
In the Bitcoin industry, many assume that most opportunities are reserved for developers or tech-savvy individuals. However, the reality is much broader. Let's dive in and see that ourselves.
Welcome to Uptober!
Hello, I’m Mindaugas from Bitvocation - a data professional and Bitcoiner. This is your monthly instalment in our data analysis and reporting series, where we share updates and insights from the data we gather, with a particular focus on the Bitcoin job market.
At Bitvocation, our mission is simple: to empower Bitcoiners to transition out of their fiat jobs and help Bitcoin businesses connect with talent from within the community. That’s why we do what we do - we want to help you find your first job in Bitcoin.
One of our core activities at Bitvocation is gathering job postings from various Bitcoin companies and sharing them on our channels - Telegram and recently Nostr, read more on that here.
How Many Bitcoin Jobs Are Out There?
While August was outstanding, and we shared crazy amount of job posts, in September, things returned to a more typical pace, with 136 job postings. The main reason - the top ten companies from August posted over 100 fewer jobs in September. Notably, five of these top companies are banks or exchanges, suggesting that bigger players either slowed down the hiring or already hired what they needed to. In contrast to that, companies like Braiins or Fedi enhanced their hiring efforts. If this shift tells us anything, it's this: let's keep building.
Who’s Hiring?
The top 3 well funded and established businesses remain unchanged, but the direction is different. While BitGo keeps the neutral trend, Swan Bitcoin has posted only 2 jobs in the last 3 months and Kraken is slowing down too.
If the chart above shows the supply, the chart below reflects a demand - highlighting which companies and roles are the most attractive to our Telegram Feed users. While crypto exchanges dominate the supply, the top demand is for Bitcoin-Only businesses.
The chart below excludes companies with only one job post, as that data isn't sufficient for reliable comparisons.
Introducing a new section: small companies. According to our data, these are companies that have less than 21 employees, but are highly active in the job market. The top 3 are:
Satoshi - they are building an all-in-one super app, Jan3 - expanding access to Bitcoin around the world and Coinkite - hardware manufacturer from Canada.
More established, mid sized companies with 21 to 100 employees include:
SatoshiLabs - Czech technology holding creating hardware and software innovations, Unchained - helping to secure your bitcoin and Braiins - building everything you need in order to have profitable mining business.
Where do companies hire?
We still recognize that Bitcoin companies tend to be strong advocates for freedom, and there haven’t been significant changes in this chart compared to last month. However, we've noticed that determining whether a job role is remote has proven to be more challenging than expected, as we need to gather more specific data about that job posts themselves and companies may offer greater flexibility to attract top talent.
While you’re here…

I’m Not a Developer - Is There a Job for Me?
We like this question a lot - and the answer is yes! Every 2 out of 3 jobs posted are for non developers. If you are not a technical person - not a problem, you are more than welcome!
What Are the Top Roles?
We've grouped similar job titles together for clarity in our analysis. For instance, roles like “Platform Product Manager, Bitcoin” and “Product Manager - Credit and Loans” are both categorized under the general title of Product Manager.
As with companies, the chart below represents the supply side, showing which roles are most in demand.
Our click chart, on the other hand, reveals which roles people are most interested in. These might be the roles our subscribers are eager to pursue within the Bitcoin industry.
Similarly for developer roles - the demand and supply does not exactly match. If companies are looking for software engineers in general…
… Job seekers are more interested in Bitcoin specific or web development.
Do our job postings add value?
This can only be proved by your feedback, rising demand of our services by job seekers and/or employers. As for the time being we present the data, giving you real numbers to consider and letting you decide.
What’s Next?
That wraps up this month's edition! We hope you found it insightful and gained some valuable information. As we always say - #value4value.
